Position Summary/Description:
A SIGN -ON BONUS OF $7,500 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE :
$3,750 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $3,750 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE .
The Energy Data Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the University’s energy conservation and sustainability goals by managing and analyzing utility data, supporting energy project development, and ensuring effective reporting and communication. This position focuses on tracking energy and water usage and costs, publishing the data on energy management webpage, developing reports, evaluating the performance of conservation projects, and supporting strategic initiatives such as performance contracting and turnkey energy solutions.
The role also contributes to the development and implementation of Facilities Services’ Artificial Intelligence (AI) use cases, particularly those that enhance operational efficiency and sustainability outcomes etc.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy engineering or Data Science.
- Familiarity with utility bill analysis and energy systems ( HVAC , lighting, water).
- Experience with M&V protocols and energy savings calculations using spread sheet Bin calculations and full building energy modeling usingTrace 3D plus.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills; proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau is a plus.
- Exposure to AI applications and use case development for facilities or sustainability contexts is desirable.
- Master’s degree in engineering, Energy Management, Data Science or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in energy data analysis, utility tracking, or facilities operations.
Essential Skills:
A valid NC driver’s license or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
