    Reporting to the Senior Director Clinical Design Tech@Lilly Leader, you will lead, establish clinical design technologies and capabilities by researching industry innovations and trends, uncovering business use cases, and driving solutions to accelerate business outcomes. There are four primary components to the role for the assigned function: shaping architectural vision, leadership of key initiatives, technical oversight of the functional portfolio, and building business relationships to internally influence, align, and serve business outcomes bringing industry leading technology.

     

    The Tech@Lilly Clinical Design Architect is a strategic and influential position and is responsible for shaping, driving, and executing the technical strategy and direction for clinical operations tech agenda and partnering with AI/Automation for projects in the clinical design domain. Partnering with Tech@Lilly leadership, business, and clinical architect leadership, the lead Architect will drive forward the technology direction to enable the modernization and delivery of advanced technologies, using cloud, AI/ML, data, advanced analytics, and automation. Thus, this role will facilitate both creating new technology opportunities aligned to business priorities, as well as enable new business opportunities lead by technology.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    + Define and evolve the integration and data architecture for the clinical design ecosystem, including our foundational transformational project Digital Trial Foundations, an attempt at capturing all clinical trial design digital to enable many downstream automation and AI use cases

    + Lead the design and governance of scalable, secure, and reusable integration patterns and data pipelines.

    + Partner with enterprise architects, vendors, and delivery teams to ensure alignment with Lilly’s architectural standards and long-term strategy.

    + Translate complex business requirements into technical architecture and integration blueprints.

    + Be informed on and consult on all aspects of the implementation of data ingestion, transformation, and delivery frameworks that support analytics, reporting, and operational workflows.

    + Serve as a thought leader in integration modernization, data architecture, and cloud-native design.

    + Coach/guide team and leaders on architecture considerations relevant to their area of responsibility.

    What You Should Bring

    + Proven experience architecting integration and data solutions in complex, regulated environments.

    + Familiarity with DevOps practices and Agile development.

    + Demonstrated ability to communicate with a geographically dispersed group of business and technical colleagues.

    + Excellent, business-oriented analytical, problem solving, and investigative skills.

    + Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.

    Basic Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

    + 7+ years of experience in data engineering, integration, or solution architecture roles.

    + Experience working in regulated environments and with internal systems quality policies and procedures.

    Additional Preferences

    + Knowledge of GxP, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and automation systems.

    + Experience clinical and medical ontologies and control terminologies like CPT codes, CDISC, SNOWMED, LOINC, etc.

    + Depth in understanding of technical design best practices including, Cyber, Privacy, Legal, Quality, TCO, serviceability, etc.

    + Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology areas.

    Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

     

    $123,000 - $180,400

     

    Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
