The Environmental Field Specialist provides safety, regulatory, and compliance support for the management of customer waste materials within the chemical waste disposal line of business. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, able to perform well under pressure, and possess strong knowledge of waste characterization in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
**Location:** Harris County, TX
**Pay:** 28/hr.
**Terms** : 6-month contract (possibility of extension or conversion)
What You’ll Do:
+ Lead the end-to-end profile creation process to ensure company can safely handle waste streams within EPA, RCRA, DOT, state, and company compliance standards.
+ Enter, maintain, and update all waste stream data in the profiling portal.
+ Support sales personnel by handling customer profile requests, answering technical questions, and providing recommendations.
+ Provide technical, regulatory, and compliance expertise for both internal and external customers.
+ Manage recertifications and evaluate changes in technology and cost to ensure 100% price validation.
+ Deliver price control through technical approvals and customer price verification; maintain business gross margin percentages through accurate pricing controls.
+ Conduct research on chemicals and regulatory literature as needed.
+ Perform data entry across multiple platforms, including SAP.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams and assist with customer and branch technical service requests.
+ Perform other duties as required to support business and compliance needs.
What You’ll Need:
Education/Experience/Training:
+ High School Diploma required.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field preferred.
+ OR 2+ years of technical experience in the hazardous or waste management industry.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
+ Strong understanding of regulatory elements of waste and material management (EPA, RCRA, DOT, state/local regulations).
+ Ability to classify waste in accordance with RCRA, EPA, and DOT standards.
+ Experience researching regulatory requirements and chemicals.
+ Familiarity with SAP or similar data management systems.
+ Strong customer service skills with experience supporting both internal and external stakeholders.
+ Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
