    Senior Automation Test Engineer with Playwright Experience

     

    Washington, DC (Hybrid 3 Days a Week Onsite)

     

    About the role

     

    We are looking for a Senior Automation Test Engineer with strong expertise in Playwright automation skills to join our QEA team in a permanent role. You will be responsible for developing and completing automated tests, including integration/API tests and end-to-end testing to ensure robust quality coverage across our applications. This role is ideal for someone passionate about test automation, continuous improvement, and working in a fast-paced, collaborative Agile environment.

    In this role, you will:

    + Create end-to-end test scripts in TypeScript/JavaScript for modern frontend applications using Playwright tool.

    + Architect scalable and reusable test automation frameworks using Selenium, Java, and TypeScript.

    + Define, design, and implement automation testing strategies across web, API, and UI layers.

    + Design and develop robust automated test scripts for web applications using Selenium with Java.

    + Guide the team on best practices in test automation, continuous testing, and DevOps integration.

    + Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.

    + Collaborate with DevOps teams to configure and maintain test execution in Azure DevOps Pipelines.

     

    Work model

    Hybrid:

    We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Washinton DC. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.

    What you need to have to be considered

    + Overall 8-12 Years of experience in Selenium, Playwright, Typescript, Javascript, AzureDevOps.

    + Proven expertise in developing automated tests using JavaScript and Playwright automation framwork.

    + Strong programming skills in languages such as JavaScript or TypeScript.

    + Must have 2+ years of strong hands-on experience on Playwright for test automation along with experience in other automation tools frameworks such as Selenium.

    + Minimum 5+ years of experience in automation (UI + API) automation, test automation framework development and test process implementation.

    + Solid knowledge of API testing tools like Postman or REST Assured.

    + Good knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology.

    + Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins GitLab CI CD or Azure DevOps for automated test execution and integration.

    + Ability to work both independently and help other team members.

    This will help you stand out:

    + Experience with banking domain is preferred.

    + Having knowledge with SQL scripting for database testing and validation.

    + LLM, GenAI Knowledge.

    Salary and Other Compensation:

    Applications will be accepted until 10/10/2025.

     

    The annual salary for this position is between $95,000– $110,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

     

    This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
