    What You'll Do:

    _Primary preferred location is Corpus Christi Transmission Control Center. The New Albany Transmission Control Center may be considered based on the number of candidates._

    What You'll Do:

    Technical Expertise:

    Possesses foundational knowledge and experience in applying theoretical concepts to solve defined problems and perform analyses under the guidance of senior engineers. Assists in addressing specific segments of more complex issues and demonstrates a basic understanding of relevant standards, codes, and regulations. Develops familiarity with essential equipment, materials, systems, and business processes.

    Leadership & Guidance:

    Coordinates routine engineering tasks, ensuring alignment with established policies and procedures while receiving oversight from senior staff. Engages collaboratively with team members to share information and seek assistance as needed. Shows readiness to take on leadership roles when appropriate.

    Planning & Organization Ability:

    Contributes to routine project planning by providing input on scheduling and utilizes scheduling techniques (e.g., CPM, PERT, flow charts) for budgeting and planning activities. Monitors project status, suggests actions, prepares cost estimates, and understands workflow for standard engineering projects, ensuring adherence to plans and schedules set by senior employees.

    Problem Solving & Initiative:

    Proactively seeks information to understand engineering challenges and applicable solution techniques. Applies basic analytical methods to resolve routine technical issues and demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement and proposing innovative ideas.

    Communication:

    Participates in preparing reports and technical documents. Quickly assimilates information and communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing. Presents ideas clearly and actively seeks clarification when necessary.

    Interpersonal Skills:

    Engineer Associate (grade 5) - $61,647 - $75,000

     

    Engineer (grade 6) - $72,380 - $85,000

     

    Engineer (grade 7) - $85,081 - $100,000

     

    Engineer Sr (grade 8) - $97,000 - $120,000

    What We Are Looking For:

    **A degree in Electrical Engineering is required.** Experience in Energy Management Systems, Distribution Management Systems, system reliability & grid operations, planning and modeling is a plus. The engineer will be troubleshooting and analyzing EMS & DMS powerflow solutions and work with various other applications used in the daily reliability and operations of the electric grid. The engineer will oversee modeling responsibilities for an assigned area in accordance with AEP’s capital and O&M work plan. Experience with Python, C++ and scripting languages is preferred.

     

    The Engineer is primarily responsible for engineering support of the Reliability applications, processes, and the associated data and solution integrity. This includes supporting Transmission and / or Distribution State Estimator functionality as well as other reliability tools used in Transmission System Operations. The job focuses on maintaining acceptable solution quality in support of Real-time system reliability. The engineer will be part of 24x7 On-Call support staff rotation in order to provide non-stop support to the System Control Center; this means that during the time they are on-call they are expected to be available and respond.

    Education and Experience (Engineer Associate - grade 5):

    + This is an entry level position for new graduates with a **bachelor's degree in engineering** in a program accredited by ABET*; **_Preferably a degree in Electrical Engineering with Power System background/study._**

    Education and Experience (Engineer - grade 6):

    + Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*.

    Education and Experience (Engineer - grade 7):

    + Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a master’s degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*.

    Education and Experience (Engineer Sr- grade 8):

    + Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or

    + 4 years of related engineering experience along with a master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*;

    *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

     

    Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.

    $61,647.00-77,057.50 USD
