    Position Summary

    Security Specialist III plays a crucial role in the administration and management of Grant PUD’s security program. This position involves collaborating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of personnel, assets, information, and facilities. Security Specialist III demonstrates a strong understanding of security principles, relevant laws, and industry best practices.

    Essential Functions

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

     

    + Works independently to perform administrative functions associated with a specialization and certification in one of the following: Cyber Security, Security Assessments, FERC Compliance. NERC Compliance, Investigations or Project Management.

    + Respond to security threats and alerts on a potentially daily basis and be able to disseminate information, personnel, documentation, and appropriate responses; demonstrate knowledge of local authorities and the decision-making skills to contact appropriate security enforcement when needed.

    + Assists in the management, development, and implementation of various security policies surrounding the Utility’s Security Program.

    + Demonstrates a thorough understanding and knowledge of the Utility’s Security Systems, policies, and programs; can train Grant PUD employees and Contractors on various security topics in large group settings.

    + Effectively communicates with field technicians, staff, and engineers to troubleshoot security issues and provide successful solutions.

    + Performs critical procedures to keep the Utility Compliant with regulations; develops and implements policies to guard the CIP locations.

    + Demonstrates a working knowledge of the security needs both internally and externally and can recommend and implement risk-informed security measures to facilitate the needs of the Utility.

    + Collaborates with the Project Management Office to provide subject matter expertise on all projects relating to security.

    + Performs various risk, threat, penetration testing, and security assessments for the Utility; ensures all systems and tasks are up to date and working properly; evaluates test data and delivers reports and documents for compliance and research purposes; maintains assessment schedules and monitors effective testing and assessment strategies.

    + Participate in investigations of security incidents; ensure evidence integrity, including chain of custody is maintained; demonstrate sound judgement in working with federal, state, and local law enforcement for potentially criminal investigations. Act discreetly and judiciously as circumstances dictate.

    + Develop standard operating procedures, job aides and company policies for the Utility; collaborate with fellow security personnel and other department heads to create appropriate SOPs and implement the procedures; guards the interests and assets of the Utility by expertly managing the security personnel.

    + In this position, if needed to operate a GPUD vehicle for business purposes, please refer to the Vehicle/Asset Usage Policy, IS-TA-POL-001.

    + Demonstrated commitment to Grant PUD’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and Grant PUD/IBEW Local 77 Code of Excellence. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a way that aligns with these expectations.

    + Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & procedures.

    + Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to:

    + Following all safety policies and procedures.

    + Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions.

    + Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor.

    + Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.

    + Accept responsibility for the safety of all team members and model safe behaviors by:

    + Clearly defining and completing performance-focused safety activities required of you and your team.

    + Supporting work stoppages by employees when they identify unsafe/hazardous working conditions.

    + Acknowledging compliant safety behaviors and good safety performance from members of your team(s).

    Required Qualifications: (Education and Experience, License, and/or Certification)

    + 5 years of experience in security administration or a related field.

    + A valid Washington state driver's license with no restrictions.

    Preferred Qualifications: (Education and Experience, License, and/or Certification)

    + Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., security management, criminal justice, or information technology)

    + Advanced certifications such as Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) are preferred.

    Other knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

    + Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

    + Experience with security technologies such as CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.

    + Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and objectivity in handling sensitive information and investigations.

    + Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting.

    + Will perform work onsite at the locations of the assigned Business Units

    + Typical shift of employees in this position: ☒8 hours ☒9 hours ☒10 hours ☐12 hours
