    This position offers a $5,000 sign-on Bonus

     

    Position Statement:The Early Education Program Administrator is responsible for the overall instructional leadership of the Early Education Center on the Elmcrest Campus. This person works with the Daycare Administrator to sustain a sense of community and cooperation to create an environment that is welcoming, safe, conducive to learning, and supports the developmental progress of all children in the Center. The Early Education Program Administrator is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Center, supervision of staff, and managing the flow of information and paperwork. This person also interfaces with children, families, the Syracuse City School District, school district special education personnel, and the general public, as well as Elmcrest Agency Departments.

    Responsibilities:

    + Supervise the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices in the center.

    + Manage resources and the day-to-day operations of the center for a safe, efficient and effective learning environment.

    + Coordinate and implement systems to manage early education functions such as supply management, student records, program finances, and building maintenance.

    + Maintain professional and positive relationships with children, families, agency staff, visitors, outside agencies, and the general public at all times.

    + Maintain proactive, positive, and consistent communication with families, staff, school district personnel, county health departments, and other community collaborators.

    + Provide supervision of preschool special education staff and paraprofessionals, including educating and coaching staff regarding the implementation of developmentally appropriate programming and interactions with children.

    + Ensure that all appropriate staff are provided with student IEPs and understand what is required of them to implement the IEPs.

    + Plan and implement staff development activities to support the ongoing professional development of staff and to enhance the quality of programming at the center.

    + Utilize data to identify program goals and improve the quality and effectiveness of services to children and families, and work with building staff to meet program goals.

    + Manage payroll and time off records for staff.

    + Perform personnel activities to hire, train, and maintain quality staffing at the center.

    + Maintain updated policies and procedures for effective functioning of the program.

    + Collaborate with other agency departments and outside community agencies/programs for the effective functioning of the center.

    + Follow all State Education regulations and Elmcrest program policies and procedures.

    Department & Program Specific Responsibilities:

    + Sustain developmentally appropriate early education programming in collaboration with staff to promote the success of every child and to ensure compliance with program curriculum, the agency, OCFS, State Education, and Syracuse City UPK.

    + Work with the social worker and daycare administrator to monitor enrollment for the SPICE program, UPK, and daycare to ensure consistent enrollment for the center.

    + Knowledge of child development;

    + Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory integration, developmental delays, and behavioral interventions preferred;

    + Required Education and Experience:

    + Master’s Degree in Education.

    + NYS Department of Education professional or permanent certification in early childhood (Students with Disabilities B-2, Early Childhood B-2, N-6, Special Education, or Students with Disabilities SWD-All Grades),at least 5 years of experience with special education, preferably young children, with minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity.

    + Additional eligibility Qualifications:

    + C.A.S. in Educational Leadership preferred.

    + NYS Department of Education certification in school leadership and supervision: School Building Leader (SBL), School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS), or School District Administrator (SDA) optimal.

    Essential Job Qualifications:

    + Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.

    + Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time.

    + Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion.

    + Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.
