UPMC St. Margaret is currently hiring for a Respiratory Care Assistant to join our Respiratory Therapy department. This entry-level role offers flexible scheduling, with options for 4-hour or 8-hour shifts, and ideally requires availability for 2 to 3 days per week. Weekend and holiday shifts are not mandatory but can be arranged if preferred. The position is perfect for individuals considering respiratory therapy as a career path or currently enrolled in RT programs. As a Respiratory Care Assistant, you will support therapists with oxygen tank and equipment rounds, maintain and prepare respiratory care equipment, and contribute to the overall readiness of the department. Responsibilities:
+ Supply Management: Assemble, distribute, and stock respiratory care supplies throughout the hospital.
+ Emergency Support: Assist therapists during CPR and other emergency procedures when needed.
+ Service Excellence: Actively listen and respond to the needs of patients, families, physicians, and staff.
+ Equipment Tracking: Identify, catalog, and track all respiratory care equipment.
+ Sterility Assurance: Clean and process soiled equipment according to departmental policies to maintain sterility.
+ Computer Proficiency: Maintain basic proficiency in using the hospital's computer systems.
+ Technical Assistance: Support biomedical technicians in tracking and repairing respiratory equipment.
+ Equipment Cleaning: Clean, disinfect, and sterilize respiratory equipment as needed.
+ Training Support: Explain tasks to other employees and students on a routine basis.
+ Gas Cylinder Management: Replace oxygen and compressed gas cylinders for patients of all ages and ensure daily equipment replacement.
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Enrollment in a post-secondary education program preferred.
+ Preference given to students enrolled in an accredited respiratory therapy program.
+ Must be able to lift equipment and or supplies weighing up to 30 pounds and push/handle equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Certified in CPR.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
