Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director Infection Prevention is responsible for the prevention, detection and control of infections in the facility and responsible for the direction of the Infection Prevention Program. The individual is responsible for establishing, instituting and maintaining an effective system for evaluation and reporting infections in patients. All of this shall be accomplished based on a systematic body of professional knowledge. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Quality and Infection Prevention.

Required Registration, Licensure and/or Certification

+ Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR

Preferred Registration, Licensure and/or Certification

+ Certification in Infection Control

Required Education or Experience

+ Bachelors in nursing, public health, medical technology or related field

Preferred Education or Experience

+ Demonstrated two years of previous infection control experience, or related areas such as nursing or microbiology

+ Master’s in Public Health or related field , Master’s Degree in nursing or medical technology

Required Knowledge and Skills

+ Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members.

+ Strong critical thinking skills and project management.

+ Demonstrates knowledge of microbiology, normal flora, pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibility testing
