Job Summary and Qualifications
The Senior Oracle Exadata Administrator will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of Oracle Exadata and Nosql Couchbase systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability that are used by the payment compliance and automation teams.
MAJOR RESAPONSIBILITIES
Exadata System Architecture and Design
- Design, deploy, and manage Oracle Exadata systems across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to architect high-performance database solutions that align with business goals.
- Lead capacity planning, scaling, and performance tuning to optimize Exadata resources.
Advanced Database Administration
- Manage large-scale Oracle database environments, with a focus on Exadata tuning, partitioning, and in-depth SQL optimization.
- Implement advanced high-availability solutions, including RAC (Real Application Clusters), Active Data Guard, and GoldenGate replication.
- Conduct deep performance analysis using Oracle’s AWR, ADDM, and ASH reports.
System Security, Compliance, and Best Practices
- Enforce stringent security policies, including network access controls, encryption, and auditing, in accordance with compliance standards (e.g., SOX, GDPR).
- Regularly review and update Exadata systems for vulnerabilities, leveraging Oracle patches and best practices to mitigate risks.
- Ensure data protection through advanced backup strategies using RMAN, ZDLRA (Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance), and secure configuration.
Automation and Scripting
- Develop custom scripts in Shell, Python, and/or Ansible for automation of routine Exadata tasks, including monitoring, health checks, and patch management.
- Design automation workflows for repetitive database administration activities, improving efficiency and minimizing manual intervention.
Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting
- Lead advanced troubleshooting sessions, resolving complex issues in multi-terabyte Exadata environments.
- Utilize Oracle Exadata Storage Server metrics and in-depth knowledge of Exadata Storage Indexes, Hybrid Columnar Compression, and Smart Scan for performance tuning.
- Provide guidance on SQL query optimization, leveraging parallel query processing, partitioning, and indexing strategies.
Cross-functional Collaboration and Leadership
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Oracle Exadata within the organization, providing mentorship to junior team members and guiding best practices.
- Collaborate with Oracle Support and engineering teams to address complex hardware or software issues and to adopt new Exadata features.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Configure and manage Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and other monitoring tools for proactive issue identification and root-cause analysis.
- Providing operational support for databases 24/7/365, shared with other DBAs.
- Generate regular performance reports, highlighting critical insights and making recommendations for system improvements.
- Working collaboratively with members of other teams to accomplish objectives. A good team player.
- Thinking strategically; suggesting ways to leverage database tools to meet demands that are coming in the future.

What qualifications you will need:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science - Required
EXPERIENCE
8 or more years of experience in a DBA role – Required
5 or more years of experience in Oracle Exadata systems - Required
1 or more years of experience in managing NOSQL databases – Preferred
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience could be considered
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Oracle Database Administration Certification - Preferred
