Description:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for effectively managing the activities of the Emergency Services; supervises the clinical team leaders as they direct & coordinate the daily operations & development of staff. The Nurse Manager utilizes knowledge of nursing practice & applies the management principles of planning, organizing, directing & evaluating quality of nursing practice & patient care, as prescribed by professional standards. Coordinates educational classes to meet the annual competency requirement of the staff.

**Position Requirements** :

**A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:** Maintains current Georgia professional nursing license. ACLS, BLS, ENPC & TNCC required. Instructor in each certification is preferred. Membership in a professional organization preferred.

**B. Education:** Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing, able to read & write English, Baccalaureate degree required, Master’s Degree in Nursing or Business preferred. Certification in area of specialty preferred.

**C. Experience:** Minimum of three to five years Emergency Services experience, at least two, which were Supervisory experience. Demonstrates leadership ability with excellent performance ratings.

Must be able to deal constructively with conflict, collect, analyze & interpret data from a variety of sources & take appropriate action.

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge & skills necessary to direct & provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served.

Must be able to plan, organize & coordinate varied & complex operations.

Must be able to select, supervise, train & evaluate employees.

Counsels & disciplines staff as indicated & by policy & procedure.

Accountable for these services on a twenty-four hour basis.

Must be aware of possible electrical, chemical, mechanical & radiation hazards.

Must consistently use universal precautions; maintain body substance isolation to prevent cross contamination between patients & personnel. Maintain OSHA standards.
