Position Summary
Reporting to Manager of New Prodcut Development, the New Product Development Machinist-III is responsible for the operation of CNC machine tools to support the introduction of new products, existing manufacturing lines and research and development projects. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have a willingness to learn, is able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to develop & maintain good communication and relationships with internal customers across all departments.
How You’ll Make an Impact
• Help design and manufacture fixtures and tooling to support manufacturing.
+ Support New Product Development and R&D activities by machining prototypes, test specimens, and tooling.
+ Learn mechanical principles of Praxis products and manufacturing to become technical expert/resource on Praxis parts and products fabricated in house
+ Attend weekly engineering meetings as a machining subject-matter-expert
+ Programming of CNC machines including set up and fixturing
+ Troubleshoot CNC programming to resolve machine errors identified by operators
+ Operate lathes, mills and surface grinders
+ Responsible for the operation of inspection equipment
+ Read and interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
+ Understand the impact of tolerances for error-free production
+ Maintain compliance with Praxis’ Quality Management System
+ Accurately complete all required record sheets
+ Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines and applying best practices for on-the-job safety in a production environment
+ Support Sales by assessing potential products with estimates of cost and delivery times.
What You Must Bring to This Role
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Machine trade or technical school certification
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents including: maintenance instructions, procedure and manuals
• Experience working in CAD and CAM systems
• Demonstrated success working with technical/mechanical devices
• Proven ability to operate with computers, microscopes and other tools
• Experience in production operations, safety and security protocols
Working Conditions & Physical Efforts
+ Work is performed in a Production environment
+ May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Ability to stand or sit for a prolonged period of time
+ Visual functions being those of near vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
+ Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with leadership & clients
