    Job Description:

    Job Title: Human Resource Assistant

     

    FLSA: Non-Exempt

    General Function:

    Provides prompt, efficient and friendly employee support. Assists with and facilitates the human resource processes, resolves benefits-related problems, and provides administrative support to the department, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.

    Working Relationships:

    Accountable and Reports to (Job Title): Group Vice President, Specialty Foods Warehouse; Human Resources Manager, Specialty Foods Warehouse

     

    Positions that Report to you (Job Title): None

    Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

    + Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

    + Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.

    + Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.

    + Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.

    + Assists with processing of terminations.

    + Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.

    + Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.

    + Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by HR.

    + Makes photocopies, processes mails, scans and emails documents; and other clerical functions.

    + Prepares new-employee files. Files documents into appropriate employee files.

    + Conducts orientation and trains new employees.

    + Disperses paychecks, W-2’s, Trust Fund/401(k) reports/year end employee income and benefits reports, and other company communications (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)

    + Maintains strict adherence to company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.

    + Coordinates the inputting, changing, and deleting of employee information in all systems.

    Secondary Responsibilities:

    + Coordinates events (Holiday party, Springtime Party, etc.).

    + Assists in other areas of facility as needed.

    + Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

    Education/Experience Required to Perform Job:

    One to two years of similar or related Human Resource experience. High School diploma. Basic computer knowledge preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    + Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Must possess the ability to interview, evaluate data, and compose correspondence.

    + This job is sedentary to light in nature according to the Department of Labor Weight Classifications. Frequent to constant handling, grasping of paper, constant listening, talking, hearing, writing, seeing, reading, dealing with people, influencing others, evaluating information, supervising, and use of a computer.

    + Visual requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less up to 20 feet or more, with or without correction; depth perception, and field of vision.

    + Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

    + Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

    Working Conditions:

    + The duties for this position are normally conducted in a combination of an office and warehouse environment. There is constant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.

    + There is possible exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, equipment movement hazards, and dangerous chemicals/solvents.

    Contacts:

    Has daily contact with employees. Has monthly contact with the general public, community or trade/professional organizations, and federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies. Has occasional contact with suppliers/vendors.
