ICP Group is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to lead the Quality Control (QC) function at our Buchanan, Lynchburg, VA plant. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of product testing, documentation, and compliance to ensure that all manufactured products meet defined specifications and deliver consistent, high-quality results to our customers. The QC Supervisor will manage the day-to-day activities of the QC team, collaborate with production, and serve as a key driver of quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities :
+ Safety & Compliance
+ Ensure strict adherence to all plant safety requirements, including the proper use of PPE, and enforce safety protocols within the QC lab and production areas.
+ Lead and participate in safety meetings, conduct audits, and drive a culture of safety and compliance.
+ Quality Oversight & Testing
+ Supervise daily testing and validation of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods.
+ Review and approve QC results, ensuring compliance with SOPs and defined specifications.
+ Maintain oversight of quarantined materials in both physical storage and the ERP (Syspro) operating system, coordinating release or proper disposition with production and corporate lab teams.
+ Team Leadership & Development
+ Lead, train, and mentor QC Technicians and other staff on testing procedures, documentation practices, and problem-solving.
+ Establish team schedules, manage workloads, and ensure accurate and timely completion of QC tasks.
+ Provide coaching, feedback, and support to develop strong technical and analytical skills within the team.
+ Communication & Collaboration
+ Act as the primary liaison between the QC lab and production teams, ensuring timely communication of results and quality-related concerns.
+ Provide recommendations to operators and management regarding process adjustments to maintain product quality.
+ Partner with Research & Development lab personnel for escalations, advanced testing, or issues beyond local plant protocols.
+ Process Improvement & Documentation
+ Audit, create, and revise SOPs to ensure effective and accurate testing methods are in place.
+ Utilize statistical analysis and trend monitoring to identify quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Maintain accurate records in Microsoft Excel, ERP (Syspro) systems, and other quality documentation platforms.
+ Inventory & Supplies
+ Oversee QC lab supply needs, approving and coordinating orders as necessary.
+ Monitor weekly and monthly cycle counts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with inventory controls.
+ Additional Duties
+ Support trial production runs and collaborate on new product introductions.
+ Ensure QC work areas remain clean, organized, and audit-ready.
+ Perform other duties as required to support production quality and customer satisfaction.
Experience needed
+ Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required.
+ Prior Quality Control/Assurance experience strongly preferred, including supervisory or lead roles.
+ Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, SOP management, and statistical analysis.
+ Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
+ Proficiency with ERP systems (Syspro and formulator preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
+ Strong math skills and comfort with different units of measure (UOM).
+ Ability to train, mentor, and motivate team members effectively.
+ Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and use lab/testing equipment with dexterity.
