    Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist Job Description

     

    We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to implement and oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and guidelines. This role involves developing internal training, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with HSE standards. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment while supporting sustainability initiatives and accident prevention strategies.

    Responsibilities

    + Implement HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines across assigned areas of expertise.

    + Develop and deliver internal training sessions to promote HSE awareness and compliance.

    + Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits to ensure adherence to HSE standards.

    + Coordinate and support external audits and regulatory inspections.

    + Create detailed incident reports and support investigations of accidents and near-misses.

    + Perform risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies for assigned projects.

    + Assist in the development and deployment of HSE systems and standards for data collection and analysis.

    + Monitor and evaluate HSE performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

    + Ensure timely, safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of assigned tasks.

    + Provide expert guidance and make informed decisions within the scope of HSE responsibilities.

    + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulations, industry standards, and best practices.

    + Promote compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and internal policies (COPs, HBR, SOPs).

    + Support the implementation of sustainability initiatives and major accident hazard prevention strategies.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

    + 1-2 years of experience in environmental health and safety.

    + OSHA 10 or 30 certification.

    + Great communication and computer software skills, particularly in Excel and Microsoft applications.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

    + Ability to give feedback and lead toolbox talks and health and safety meetings.

    + Capable of helping specialists and managers create and deliver safety protocols.

    + Personality and effective communication skills are important.

    + Experience in EHS management.

    Work Environment

    This position is based onsite at the East Windsor, NJ Campus, requiring a presence five days a week. The work environment offers dynamic learning opportunities and exposure to a wide variety of responsibilities, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical business. Employees benefit from a state-of-the-art facility and work with high-profile pharmaceutical customers, gaining hands-on experience with multiple drug delivery dosage forms. The role reports to EHS Specialists and Managers.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Windsor, New Jersey.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.06/hr.
