Construction Quality Assurance (QA) Representative

Overview

This position serves as a Construction Quality Assurance (QA) Representative supporting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the execution of construction projects along the U.S. borders. The role involves oversight of construction activities, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with contract requirements. A background in construction management is required, along with strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

+ Daily surveillance of field engineering activities on major construction projects

+ Provide guidance on safety and quality assurance; enforce safety regulations

+ Review contractor schedules for logic and feasibility

+ Evaluate contractor payment estimates and progress reports

+ Prepare daily activity reports including instructions, progress, delays, and issues

+ Ensure environmental Best Management Practices are followed

+ Support outreach efforts and assist project managers and CORs

+ Analyze problems and interpret plans/specs

+ Monitor layout and inspect work in progress

Qualifications

+ 3–10 years of commercial/civil construction experience

+ Bachelor’s degree preferred; substitutions allowed:

+ 6 years’ experience in lieu of degree

+ Associate’s degree + 4 years’ experience

+ 3+ years of construction oversight experience (horizontal construction preferred)

+ Experience with surveillance, monitoring, pay estimates, and safety enforcement

+ Strong communication and problem-solving skills

+ Ability to manage multiple projects independently

+ Willingness to travel between job sites

+ Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass a government background investigation

Preferred Certifications

+ OSHA 30 Construction

+ Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP)

+ Construction Quality Management (CQM)

+ EM 385-1-1

Technical Skills

+ Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint

+ Project management software (Procore, Autodesk, etc.)

Primarily based in El Paso, TX

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
