Job Description:

Our hospital has an leadership opportunity for a Manager, Risk and Patient Safety. This role provides day-to-day supervision to guide staff, both directly and through Performance Improvement initiatives throughout the hospital, toward achieving the Hospital’s success factor goals and their associated initiatives. Reporting to our Executive Director of Quality & Patient Safety, this professional leader contributes to the Hospital’s mission by providing leadership and strategic direction for quality improvement and excellence initiatives in order to identify and achieve optimum quality outcomes and patient safety objectives.

As a member of the Quality and Patient Safety and leadership teams, this Manager position:

+ Oversees and directs the day-to-day department operations to ensure the department is doing their part to provide our patients with the most effective, efficient, safe, timely and patient-centered services possible.

+ Uses performance improvement methodologies to constantly improve processes by removing variation and waste.

+ Continually monitors the department’s key indicators’ outcomes. Uses this information to constantly improve department operations.

+ Remains current on supervisory and the field’s best practices and trends.

Ideal candidates should have the following:

Education/Licensing/Certifications** **_:_

+ **_Required:_** Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, **_5 Year Requirement_** **:** Master’s Degree in Nursing or relevant field (e.g. MPH)

+ **_Preferred:_** Master’s Degree in Nursing or a relevant field upon hire/Juris Doctorate Degree

+ **_Required:_** Current license to practice professional nursing from MA Board of Registration

+ **_Preferred:_** Lean Six Sigma, Project Management or equivalent certification preferred

Experience -** **_Required:_

+ At least three (3) years of progressively more responsible experience in healthcare Risk Management and/or patient safety

+ At least two (2) years of Registered Nurse patient care experience.

+ Experience with leading Performance Improvement teams and initiatives.

_Preferred:_

+ At least one year of supervisory experience

+ At least five years of hospital-based nursing experience

+ Budget management experience.
