Job Title: Material Assurance Specialist

Job Description

The Material Assurance Specialist will be responsible for managing material status, expediting overdue materials, and providing updates during production meetings. The role requires effective communication with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely delivery and resolve potential shortages.

Responsibilities

+ Compile and maintain material and parts inventory and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between plant and storage locations according to predetermined production schedules and order priorities.

+ Read production schedules, critical parts shortage lists, inventory reports, job orders, and purchase order schedules to determine the quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.

+ Communicate with suppliers, mainly in person, to check on overdue orders and negotiate improvements to meet required dates.

+ Maintain transactions related to inventory and order status manually or using computer software.

+ Coordinate with associates to expedite the transfer of materials from stock areas to production areas.

+ Verify materials received, part numbers, and check for discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.

+ Perform frequent checks with internal departments and buyers to ensure delivery is possible on the agreed date.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in expediting materials and procurement management.

+ Technical manufacturing knowledge.

+ Strong people skills.

+ Background in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, process, or project).

+ Proficiency in SAP.

+ Quality assurance and process improvement experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Excellent negotiation skills.

+ Knowledge of forging or casting processes.

+ Experience with Pratt/Turbine.

Work Environment

The role involves visiting three suppliers a week, spending time with vendors to identify and address weaknesses. The work environment includes frequent interaction with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely and efficient material management.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Glastonbury, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
