    Job Description:

    Primary Responsibiilities

    + Assists with the required processing of laboratory specimens including but not limited to verification of specimen identification, requisition entry when necessary, centrifugation, and pouring of aliquots.

    + Performs a variety of clerical and technical procedures to prepare specimens for processing, result review, and verification. Answers phones, and assists with providing test result information to physicians.

    + Checks inventory of supplies, and notifies supervisor when ordering may be necessary.

    + Maintains work areas in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.

    + Operates computer for required applications.

    + Complies with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies; adheres to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.

    + Performs other similar or related duties as required or as directed in all sections, areas, and shifts.

    + Works closely with technical and clerical staff to maintain communication related to patient tests/processing.

    Required Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent, with reading skills verified at ninth grade level or better.

    + Six months of laboratory experience preferred.

    + Must have good organizational skills.

    + Able to work independently on assigned tasks.
