Job Title: Converting Operator

Job Description

As a Converting Operator, you will be responsible for operating machinery used in flexible packaging, such as labels and prints on boxes. Your duties will include utilizing and maintaining mounting equipment and ensuring its cleanliness throughout the shift. Additionally, you will manage plates used as molds, which often require cleaning before storage. Each plate must be inspected before use in a print run.

Responsibilities

+ Operate machines for flexible packaging

+ Utilize and maintain mounting equipment

+ Ensure cleanliness of equipment throughout the shift

+ Handle and clean plates used as molds

+ Inspect plates before use for print runs

Essential Skills

+ 6+ months of machine operation experience

+ 1+ year of experience within a manufacturing setting

+ Mechanically inclined

+ Assembly skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Press Operator experience is a plus

Work Environment

Work within a smaller, family-owned company known for low turnover, where most staff have been with the company for over five years. The team is expected to work diligently while on duty, but the company is accommodating to personal family matters. Dress code includes steel toe boots, jeans/work pants without holes, and a t-shirt. Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection is provided. The first shift runs from 5 AM to 1 PM, and the second shift from 1 PM to 9 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
