    Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

    Job Description

    Pharmacy technicians in all time zones are invited to join a large healthcare insurance company's Pharmacy Services department. The role involves reviewing Prior Authorizations for coverage determination. Technicians must either approve or deny requests, which are then sent to pharmacists for final review. The position requires handling Medicare and various medications, with minimal phone work primarily consisting of outbound calls.

    Responsibilities

    + Review and make determinations on coverage requests for medications.

    + Track coverage determination requests and obtain verbal authorizations.

    + Approve requests based on established criteria.

    + Enter decisions into the Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) system.

    + Notify providers and members of decisions.

    + Respond to client inquiries and refer requests for specialty drugs.

    + Contact providers for additional information.

    + Notify stakeholders of decision outcomes.

    + Assist with inbound and outbound patient or physician calls if needed.

    Essential Skills

    + High School diploma or GED.

    + Current Pharmacy Registration and Certification as required by state.

    + Strong computer skills.

    + Experience with prior authorizations, Microsoft Office, and data entry.

    + Customer service skills in a pharmacy setting.

    + Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and health insurance.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Registered Pharmacy Technician certification.

    + PTCB or NHA certification.

    + Experience in retail pharmacy, call centers, PBM, hospital, or specialty pharmacy.

    Work Environment

    This role is part of a large Managed Care Organization primarily handling government-sponsored health insurance programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and the exchange program. The position is fully remote, requiring strong Wi-Fi and an office space with a closed door.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
