    Job Title: QC Inspector / Assembler (1st Shift)

    Job Description

    Join a dynamic machine shop that specializes in fabricating parts for the oil and gas industry, including bearings and seals for rotating equipment. As a QC Inspector / Assembler, you will perform quality inspections according to blueprints and specified tolerances, mainly focusing on bearings and seals. This role also involves smaller assembly tasks and floating around the shop to assist with various duties. You will work with parts ranging from 1" ID to 36" OD and up to 12" in length, using materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, babbitt, and exotic metals. In addition, you may have the opportunity to conduct NDT inspections, primarily dye penetrant testing.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct quality inspections of parts according to blueprints and tolerances.

    + Inspect and assemble bearings and seals after machining.

    + Float around the shop to assist with various tasks as needed.

    + Utilize measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.

    + Read and interpret blueprints for accurate quality assurance.

    + Perform visual inspections and mechanical assembly.

    + Potentially conduct NDT inspections, particularly dye penetrant testing.

    Essential Skills

    + 5+ years of experience in quality control.

    + Proficiency in using measuring equipment like micrometers and calipers.

    + Strong blueprint reading skills.

    + Experience in quality assurance and quality inspection.

    + Ability to perform visual and mechanical inspections.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with NDT, particularly dye penetrant testing.

    + Extensive assembly and quality experience.

    + Forklift experience is advantageous.

    Work Environment

     

    This medium-sized, organized, yet busy shop is home to 27 day shift employees and 23 afternoon shift employees, including CNC machinists, manual machinists, QC specialists, welders, assemblers, and general laborers. The shop's clean and air-conditioned environment is maintained at 72F to prevent material warping during machining. Employees should adhere to a dress code of steel-toed boots, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses. The 1st shift operates Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Fridays from 6:00 am to Noon, with voluntary half-day Saturdays that may become mandatory if workload increases, averaging 50 hours per week.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Deer Park, Texas.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $31.00/hr.
