Job Summary
Dominion Energy South Carolina (DESC) is currently seeking a student intern to join our summer program at one of our power generation facilities.
This internship offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of environmental compliance supporting both fossil (natural gas and coal) and hydroelectric generation operations.
The selected candidate will assist the Environmental Compliance Coordinator with activities that ensure adherence to environmental regulations and permits, as well as conformance with corporate policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Learning about the facility’s permits and compliance programs, including those related to the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Emergency Planning and Community to Know Act (EPCRA), drinking water, air, landfill, and stormwater.
• Assisting with sampling, profiling, and managing hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste generated by the plant.
• Collecting information necessary for completing required environmental regulatory and internal inspections and reports.
• Supporting the development and enhancement of training, inspection, and compliance processes to improve environmental performance.
• Participating in internal and external regulatory compliance inspections and audits.
• Assisting with root cause analysis of environmental events to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Monitoring and tracking regulatory deadlines to ensure timely compliance.
Please note, this position may require response support during environmental emergencies, outages, and is subject to after-hours, weekend, and holiday work outdoors within an industrial environment. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; however, hours may vary as needed.
This role is based at one of our plants within thirty miles of Columbia. Other locations such as Charleston may be considered based on applicants.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; Must be able to work independently and as a team; Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving history; Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned work location and have reliable transportation; Must be able to move about freely and perform field work and Must have strong computer knowledge and skills with demonstrated ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Office products
Education Requirements
Must be in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in environmental resource management, environmental studies, biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field.
Students who have completed their first year of an associate's degree program may also be considered.
Must have a projected graduation date of Spring 2027 or 2028.
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
