    Senior Director for Financial Reporting

    Position Description:

    Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    + Lead the Financial Reporting function in AS, including researching & identifying reporting requirements, leading the efforts of other institutional constituents to gather needed data, and assessing system & accounting structure needs for efficient & effective data collection.

    + Promote institutional compliance with laws, policies, and regulations that govern accounting & reporting requirements through policy development, regulation interpretation, training, and risk assessment.

    + Assist in the design and administration of ERP finance modules, including new implementations.

    + Direct the preparation and submission of TTU's Annual Financial Report (AFR).

    + Direct the preparation and submission of external financial reports, including TX Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Sources & Uses and Department of Education Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) Finance; provide financial data needed for external reports overseen by other departments; monitor/implement related reporting guidance changes.

    + Assist the Controller in strategic planning for AS in service to overall TTU goals & objectives; develop goals and a strategic plan for Financial Reporting in alignment with those for AS.

    + Perform other projects & duties as the Controller may assign from time to time.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; current standing as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Experience in governmental &/or higher education accounting. Experience in ERP implementation & structuring of workflows.

    Accounting Services (AS) works under the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in the division of Administration & Finance. AS oversees state accounting, post-award research administration, property management, financial systems, operating funds, and financial reporting for Texas Tech University and its 42,200 students and $1.8 billion budget. We currently have close to 60 positions and are continuously growing to meet the strategic long-term objectives of TTU. Heading the department is the Assistant Vice President and Controller.

    $115,600 - $150,300 - $185,000
