This position coordinates the Corrections Organized for Reentry Program (CORe) for a specific institution.

Minimum Qualifications

Six years of experience in social services, corrections, psychology, counseling, nursing, teaching at the secondary level or above, or in the treatment/rehabilitation of offenders/inmates; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in social services, corrections, psychology, counseling, nursing, teaching at the secondary level or above, or in the treatment/rehabilitation of offenders/inmates; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in social services, corrections, psychology, counseling, nursing, teaching at the secondary level or above, or in the treatment/rehabilitation of offenders/inmates; OR

An advanced degree in a social science field, social work, nursing, or education plus two years of experience in social services, corrections, psychology, counseling, nursing, teaching at the secondary level or above, or in the treatment/rehabilitation of offenders/inmates.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

+ Assists in the development of inmate's post release plan which includes employment skills, job placement assistance to eligible inmates, money management skills, values clarification and goal setting, problem solving and decision-making skills, personal development and planning skills, counseling, anger management, victim awareness and restitution, and information on community-/faith-based organizations supporting reentry.

+ Develops and maintains partnerships with other state agencies, community organizations, faith-based groups, and crime victims to administer CORe initiatives.

+ Assists eligible inmates in locating private transition housing that will meet the inmate's needs and suitability for transition back into the community.

Appointment Type: DETAIL OF Apermanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C- CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

+ An employee selected for detail may be permanently promoted to this position if the position becomes available.

Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
