Minimum Qualifications
+ Shall hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree with at least 18 hours of a master's degree program from an accredited institution (preference to master's degree in education,
Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Student Affairs in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field.)
+ Three to five years direct experience in working with students with physical, learning, psychological, and/or other disabilities in higher education, k-12, or clinical setting.
+ Successful candidates should be knowledgeable of various disabilities and accommodations in higher education and best practices regarding implementing accommodations.
+ Knowledge of and experience interpreting and applying Federal Regulation 504, the Americans with Disability Act, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
(FERPA) and impact of these laws on accommodations for students with disabilities required.
+ Shall demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
+ Shall have previous experience planning and implementing large-scale programs.
+ Shall have the ability to work in a complex organization in a fast-paced, student-centered office environment.
+ Shall have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows-based computer application, and a command of technology including social media, and other online tools.
+ Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends.
Job Duties and Other Information
Administrative
+ Manage and monitor the daily operations of the Accessibility and Disability Support Office to include budget operations (payment of invoices, purchase orders, and other necessary transactions as needed).
+ Actively engage in grant and fund procurement activities supporting accessibility and student accommodations.
+ Act as a liaison, and advocate and resource person for students with disabilities.
+ Assist the University ADA coordinator with responsibilities that include assuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to\students with disabilities.
+ Assist with institutional policy development related to disability services & maintain policy updates in accordance with federal and state law.
+ Conduct in-depth intake processes with prospective, new and currently enrolled students requesting accommodations; determine and implement reasonable accommodations, process accommodation letter, provide orientation, referrals, educational planning, and on-going case management.
+ Coordinate policies and procedures relating to persons with disabilities, tracking progress relating to policies and procedures as well as federal and state laws relating to persons with disabilities.
+ Ensure the appropriate collection and management of documentation and accommodation letters for students with disabilities and work with faculty to ensure appropriate and timely accommodation.
+ Ensure the appropriate collection and management of documentation for students with disabilities, to include monitoring and reporting the number of students utilizing services, types of services provided, and the effectiveness of service delivery for program improvement processes.
+ Identify students' needs and refer to other departments and social service agencies when appropriate.
+ Assist with website development, department social media platforms, office databases, reports, program evaluation, and event registration.
+ Design and disseminate information on policies and procedures for accessibility.
+ Promote a positive, student-centered, success-orientated atmosphere in the department and program.
+ Advocate for all campus services including academic, housing, and social engagement.
+ Supervise and support the training and development of staff, graduate assistants, and student staff as well as assist with timekeeping and payroll for undergraduate and graduate student staff.
+ Teach/co-teach a credit-bearing course for university studies.
+ Serve on university and community committees as assigned by the Vice President for the Student Experience and as a sponsor for student organizations as requested.
+ Provide direction for assessment of accessibility and disability support programs; plan and implement best practices to achieve desired retention and completion of departmental goals.
+ Collaborate with various departments to cultivate campus partnerships and their participation in accessibility and disability programs.
Programs and Services
+ Direct outreach and service activities of the Office of Accessibility and Disability Support.
+ Coordinate services and equipment necessary for reasonable accommodations, including assistive technology and software.
+ Develop and implement program orientations and other transition and success activities for students with disabilities.
+ Develop disability awareness curriculum for faculty and staff promoting enhanced disability inclusion, community awareness, and retention for students with disabilities.
+ Assist with scheduling and proctoring exams.
