    UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital is looking for a passionate Crisis Clinician to join our Phone Department in house at resolve Crisis Services! resolve is a 24-hour, 365-day crisis service including a 24-hour hotline, mobile crisis team, walk in center and services for children's and teens.     The Crisis Clinician Associate is responsible for providing clinical services to consumers experiencing a self-identified crisis. Primary responsibility is responding to telephone crisis calls, de-escalation, and documentation of duties.

     

    Candidates must be able to work varying shifts: daylight, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays.

     

    _Crisis Clinician levels from Associate, Clin I and Clin II will be considered for this role. The title and pay rate (minimum rate for Associate is $20.52, Clinician I is $23.61, Clinician II is $24.78) for these positions may vary depending on education level and years of experience._

    Responsibilities:

    + Complete Crisis Clinician orientation.

    + Manage shift caseload with guidance.

    + Develop skills in assessment, de-escalation, documentation, and motivational interviewing.

    + Use Electronic Medical Records for information and documentation.

    + Provide supportive counseling using a person-centered, strength-based approach.

    + Work independently in crisis settings.

    + Support consumers and arrange referrals.

    + Advocate for Crisis Residential program admissions.

    + Encourage Walk-In program admissions for further support.

    + Meet documentation requirements and complete paperwork.

    + Respond to calls from consumers and community.

    + Manage crisis situations positively.

    + Participate in trainings and staff meetings.

    Crisis Clinician Associate:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work.

    + _Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience. (Preferred other fields of study include: sociology, gerontology, anthropology, criminal justice, nursing, or education)_

    + _ATTENTION: A COPY OF YOUR BACHELOR'S OR MASTER'S TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION._

    + Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.

    + Recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.

    + Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities.

    Crisis Clinician I:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with one (1) year mental health direct care experience. Or Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work and no experience.

    + _Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience. (Preferred other fields of study include: sociology, gerontology, anthropology, criminal justice, nursing, or education)_

    + _ATTENTION: A COPY OF YOUR BACHELOR'S OR MASTER'S TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION._

    + Includes phone triaging, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments.

    + Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in-home therapy preferred.

    + Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.

    + Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities.

    Crisis Clinician II:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with two (2) years mental health direct care experience with one (1) year crisis experience. Or Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with one (1) year mental health direct care experience.

    + _Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience. (Preferred other fields of study include: sociology, gerontology, anthropology, criminal justice, nursing, or education)_

    + _ATTENTION: A COPY OF YOUR BACHELOR'S OR MASTER'S TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION._

    + Work history that includes phone triage, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments.

    + Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in-home therapy preferred.

    + Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations

    + Licensure in social work or professional counseling is preferred.

    + Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

    + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

    + OAPSA
