What You'll Be Doing
**Job Scope:** The Project Engineer coordinates engineering projects, ensuring they meet technical requirements and are completed on time and within budget. In this role, you will lead small capital projects (less than $5MM). Duties will be performed under general supervision in Gonzales, LA.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
+ Develop project plans and specifications (scope, budget, and schedule).
+ Coordinate project activities and resources.
+ Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed.
+ Ensure compliance with technical standards and regulations.
+ Collaborate with engineers and project managers.
+ Lead assigned capital projects (standalone projects and projects within plant outages) and manage all engineering, design, and construction resources
+ Develop estimates, funding documents, schedule, and ongoing forecasts for plant executed projects within SAP
+ Ensure all projects receive adequate process hazard reviews and ORI’s and that all recommendations are completed in a timely manner
+ Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project designs
+ Provide field supervision / support during projects execution
+ Manage Project Safety Maintain projects on budget and schedule
+ Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer
+ Basic understanding of operating plant environment
+ Understands quality standards as outlined by site
+ Conduct Safety Kickoff Meeting with contractors and operations team prior to start of project execution
+ Clearly communicate safety goals and standards to contractors.
+ Complete JSA and participate in the Safe Work Permit issuance process.
+ Lead daily morning safety / toolbox meetings with all crafts.
+ Ensure all contractors on site for project execution have submitted an Emergency Action Plan prior to mobilization
+ Participate in Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during outages
+ Attend and contribute to monthly Safety Meetings.
+ Obtain TWIC, passport and complete refinery background checks
Ideal Background
**Education:** Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.
**Registration:** Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.
**Experience:** Requires 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.

+ Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.
+ Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.

+ A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in complex technical issues coordination and resolution.
+ Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.
+ Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.
+ Ability to handle stress with poise.
+ Ability to delegate authority appropriately.
+ Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability.
+ Organizational skills, ability to set priorities.
+ Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.
+ Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
+ Excellent presentation skills.
+ Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
