Our Communications externship is managed by our Communications team with oversight by the Marketing and Communications Leadership Team.

This is an 11-week summer program crafted for rising sophomores and juniors majoring in communications or a related field. Externs will be matched to an 11-week project based on their skills combined with the Communications business need. The project will have a drive toward customer experience initiatives and customer centricity.

What will you learn?

Externs will gain valuable insight into the communication strategy, planning and execution process by completing a project with deliverables. This will provide the opportunity to create tangible, measurable results that will directly impact our customers and the Bank.

What will you do?

Extern s will be given a mentor, who will be an experienced Communication leader. The mentor will provide the opportunity to ask questions, explore business and professional development, and gain insight into the Bank’s culture and operations.   The extern will write Bancorp wide external communications such as press releases, media alerts and internal feature stories.

The program will also include various networking and development opportunities. You will have the opportunity to attend a variety of events, such as speaker series, team meetings, customer meetings and additional development opportunities.

At the end of the program, externs will present their projects to their mentor and other members of the Communication s Leadership Team. This will provide the opportunity to showcase their hard work, receive feedback, and prepare for a successful career .

Location:

As a national organization, we have many sites located across the country. This Communications Externship will be hosted in person, at Fifth Third Bank’s headquarters located in Cincinnati, OH.

Requirements:

+ Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

+ Undergraduate rising sophomore or rising junior student completing a bachelor’s degree majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related major.

+ Work experience, internship or co-op experience helpful, but not necessary.

+ Desire for a career in communications or marketing.

+ Proven track record of accomplishments.

+ Results oriented through initiative, ownership, and accountability.

+ Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong professional presence.

+ Ability to interact with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.

+ This externship will be in person, you are required to relocate to the Cincinnati area if you are not local to this area.

+ Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment based immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
