Overview
Intelligent Waves is seeking a **System Engineer Level I** to support our cybersecurity contract at **Fort Meade, MD** . The selected candidate will serve as a hardware engineer with hands-on experience in field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), proficiency with ModelSim for VHDL or Verilog HDL coding and simulations, and familiarity with Xilinx tools. In this role, the engineer will manage system and derived requirements to ensure production systems align with established architectures, including the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Additional responsibilities include assisting with the development of system and functional requirements, allocating requirements across hardware, software, facility, and personnel components, and supporting the creation of alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions tailored to customer needs.

**Clearance Requirement:** Active **TS/SCI** level security clearance **with CI polygraph** (must be current).

Responsibilities
Systems Engineering
+ Lead activities across the lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, integration, testing, and deployment.
+ Develop system specifications, architectures, and integration strategies aligned with mission objectives.
+ Apply engineering best practices to ensure compliance with mission and security requirements.
Performance & Risk Management
+ Manage risk, evaluate system performance, and resolve technical issues in secure environments.
Collaboration & Expertise
+ Collaborate with software, hardware, and cybersecurity engineering teams.
+ Provide subject matter expertise in FPGA and VHDL operations and sustainment.
Additional Duties
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
+ **Bachelor’s degree** in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
+ In lieu of a degree, an additional five (5) years of relevant experience may be substituted.
+ **Systems Engineering Experience:**
+ **Level 1:** Seven (7) years with degree, or twelve (12) years without degree.
+ Must have experience with field-programmable gate arrays **(FPGAs)** .
+ Must have experience with **ModelSim,** for VHSIC hardware description language **(VHDL)** or **Verilog HDL** coding and simulations.
+ Must have experience with **Xilinx tools.**
+ **Active TS/SCI with CI polygraph** clearance.
