    The** **Finance, Planning, and Budgeting (FPB)** **has an outstanding opportunity for a Business Analyst / Project Manager (Temporary) to join their team.

    Finance, Planning, and Budgeting (FPB) encompasses the major central financial, planning, and budgeting functions for the University of Washington, including:

    + Finance & Budget Strategy

    + Institutional Analytics & Data Support Policy

    + Planning & State Operations

    + University Business Services

     

    Within FPB, the Institutional Analytics & Decision Support (IADS) division delivers actionable insights, data infrastructure, and analytic services to support institutional effectiveness and strategic planning. The **_Business Analyst / Project Manager (BA/PM)_** plays a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering high-impact data and technology projects across IADS and the broader FPB division. Embedded within DataGroup, IADS’ cross-functional data and reporting team, the BA/PM serves as a central hub for project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and solution delivery.

     

    This role requires a unique balance of analytical acumen, project leadership, and relationship management, with the ability to translate complex business needs into clear data requirements while guiding diverse teams through the successful execution of complex initiatives.

    Position Complexities:

    Campus Leadership

    + Serves as a liaison between IADS, FPB, and select campus units, applying project management frameworks to ensure data and technology projects align with divisional goals

    + Supports informed decision-making by preparing and presenting project status reports, timelines, and performance metrics to leadership

    + Participates in cross-unit governance and working groups, ensuring project plans remain aligned with institutional priorities and compliance requirements

    Strategic Program Development

    + Leads the scoping, scheduling, and execution of data and technology initiatives of moderate size and complexity, using established PM methodologies

    + Balances multiple workstreams, managing dependencies, resources, and budgets to deliver projects on time and within scope

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Management (~50%)

    + Plan, organize, and manage data-related projects from initiation through delivery, applying established project management methodologies

    + Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project charters, work plans, timelines, risk registers, and communication plans

    + Coordinate work efforts across technical teams, data analysts, business stakeholders, and leadership to ensure effective collaboration and timely delivery

    + Lead regular project status meetings, track milestones, and monitor progress against objectives

    Business Analysis (~50%)

    + Facilitate requirements-gathering and discovery sessions with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and data professionals to define scope and objectives

    + Translate business questions and needs into actionable data and reporting requirements that align with institutional goals

    + Partner with data engineers, analysts, and visualization specialists to clarify scope, address technical considerations, and support solution delivery

    + Develop and document business processes, use cases, and current/future-state workflows to support solution design and implementation

    + Participate in testing, validation, and quality assurance activities to ensure solutions meet requirements Support change management efforts, including communication, training, and post-deployment evaluation

    + Ensure deliverables meet defined business needs, quality standards, and institutional priorities

    + Support project intake and prioritization processes for IADS and DataGroup, assessing feasibility, dependencies, and resource requirements

    Required Qualifications

    To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and any additional requirements listed below.

    _Minimum Qualifications_

    + Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, information systems, data or computer science, or related field and 4 years of experience in years of experience as a Business Analyst, Project Manager, or in a hybrid BA/PM role, with a focus on technical or data-driven projects or related field

     

    Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

    _Additional Qualifications_

    + Experience delivering data-centric solutions, including reporting, analytics, dashboards, or data infrastructure improvements

    + Proficiency with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, Asana, or Microsoft Project

    + Ability to develop project artifacts such as charters, timelines, risk registers, and communication plans Skilled in translating business needs into functional and technical requirements, workflows, and process documentation

    + Experience in data validation, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing (UAT) Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)

    + Demonstrated experience in working with diverse groups, stakeholders, and teams; collaborative, inclusive, and service-oriented leadership style and the ability to foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $81,780.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $120,000.00 annual
