    **Job Title:** High Touch Engineer

    **Locations:** Columbus, OH | Houston/Dallas/Plano, TX | Jersey City, NJ — _These are preferred locations but not mandatory; may require travel once a month for on-site operations meetings if not local_

    **Pay Range:** $55 per hour W2 (long-term opportunity with accrued benefits)

     

    About the Role

     

    Our client, a leading global tech company, is seeking a **High Touch Engineer** to join their team supporting critical network operations for a premier customer. The ideal candidate is highly technical, confident in troubleshooting, and ready to hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up. This role involves providing escalation support, resolving sophisticated network issues, and ensuring the stability of large-scale data center environments.

    What You’ll Do

    + Provide escalation support and resolve **critical network outages** and complex issues.

    + Perform **MAC & IP troubleshooting** and advanced **routing protocol** analysis.

    + Troubleshoot and optimize **Nexus 9000 platforms (VPC, VXLAN, ACI)** with strong CLI skills.

    + Support customer operations with deep **Route/Switch protocol knowledge and behavior methods** .

    + Relay detailed knowledge of customer networks and operational procedures to Cisco support teams.

    + Prepare **RCA recommendation reports** that include root causes, next steps, and corrective actions.

    + Contribute to **technical documentation initiatives** and collaborate closely with customer technical teams and leadership.

    + Lead informal knowledge transfer sessions for customer engineers.

    What We’re Looking For

    + **3–4+ years of experience** in data center technologies.

    + Hands-on expertise with **Cisco Nexus 9000 (critical), VXLAN, ACI (knowledgeable but not expert required)** .

    + Strong **CLI architecting and troubleshooting** abilities.

    + In-depth knowledge of **routing/switching protocols** and their operational behavior.

    + Proven ability to troubleshoot at a **MAC and IP level** .

    + **Cisco TAC experience** is a huge plus (but not required).

    + **No security expertise required** for this role.

    + Willingness to travel once a month for on-site operational meetings (if not local).

    + Confident and clear communication skills for technical and customer-facing discussions.

    + CCNP Route/Switch (or equivalent experience) strongly preferred.

    Expectations

    + Minimal training provided — candidates must be able to **hit the ground running** .

    + **Interviews will be highly technical** : be prepared to demonstrate knowledge of Nexus 9K, routing protocols, troubleshooting methods, and VPC.
