    Job Summary and Responsibilities

    Job Summary:

    In collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, the Magnet Program Director assumes hospital-wide responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the Magnet application, designation, and re-designation process. Responsible for assuring that Magnet standards are deployed and evidence-based practice and performance excellence are hardwired into all areas of the organization. The Director of the Magnet Program will facilitate and oversee the preparation of documentation, policies, research activities related to acquiring and maintaining Magnet designation.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Serves as a resource to administration, managers, staff and physicians. Provides information/suggestions on any aspect of project management to assist with initiatives within the organization. Provides formal and informal education throughout the organization related to key projects.

    + Actively participates in assigned committees.

    + Collaborates with appropriate administrative and patient care staff in the development /revision of forms, processes, policies and procedures, competencies and orientation/educational processes related to projects assigned.

    + Directs/facilitates project teams. Selects appropriate team members to work on a project. Insures all stakeholders have representation. Utilizes a participative project management methodology. Demonstrates skill in using in using team based tools (ground rules, brainstorming, conflict resolution empowerment etc). Conducts effective meetings Determines scope and resources required for each project. Determines the impact of the project on relevant activities already going on in the organization. Identifies project risks and include strategies to avoid/minimize delays, rework, added costs, etc. Insures that key elements of the project plan such and, timelines/schedules, budget, monitoring, milestone dates are established as needed.

    + Monitors project progress, resolves issues and manages changes. Adheres to timeframes for project completion. Effectively manages unplanned changes, unforeseen problems, etc. Communicates progress of the project to administration and involved stakeholders. Prepares/presents status reports/updates, as requested/needed.

    Job Requirements

    Minimum

    + Bachelor's of Nursing

    + Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

    + 3-5 years nursing experience required with experience developing and conducting education programs.

    + Prior Management or project management experience is required.

    + RN

    + American Heart Association BLS

    Preferred

    + MSN or a related Masters degree preferred

    + Previous experience in Magnet accredited organization or experience in Magnet accreditation process highly desirable.

    + CT CPRBLS;RN

    Pay Range

    $52.15 - $77.58 /hour
