THE POSITION
Are you interested in protecting, conserving, and enhancing the Commonwealth's aquatic resources? The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is searching for a knowledgeable Fish Production Manager to oversee our Northern Region hatcheries. This position is responsible for supporting optimum fishing opportunities to the angling public through production and stocking of fish from state fish hatcheries as well as exchanges of fish with other governmental agencies and contracted producers, while protecting the environment and complying with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Fish Production Manager, you will be tasked with managerial and advanced technical work involving the planning and direction of fish production and distribution programs for state fish hatcheries operated by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Work involves planning, directing, and coordinating fish production, fish distribution, as well as infrastructure maintenance and improvement activities in hatcheries located in Fairview, Linesville, Corry, Oswayo, Tionesta, and Pleasant Mount. You will be responsible for budgeting; assigning work; monitoring the production of numbers, sizes, and species; and distributing fish in accordance with established schedules, procedures, and destinations. You will also have the opportunity to perform administrative functions such as filling vacant positions, ensuring appropriate employee training, encouraging professional development, conducting performance reviews, and handling disciplinary actions under the guidance of the Director of Fish Production.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bellefonte. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year as a Fisheries Biologist 3;or
+ Four years as a Fish Culture Station Manager;or
+ Seven years of experience related to the production and culture of food or sport fish, which includes three years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity;or
+ Three years of supervisory or managerial experience related to the production and culture of food or sport fish; and a Bachelor’s Degree in fisheries biology, aquatic biology, aquatic ecology, fish culture, or closely related field;or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
