The Compliance, Governance & Sustainability (CG&S) team within Microsoft Devices Operations strives to protect people and the planet by driving environmentally sound, socially just, transparent, and resilient business practices across our supply chain and products. The team ensures that Microsoft products are designed and built responsibly and with sustainability in mind. The team provides transparency and assurance to customers via third-party ecolabels and customer-facing disclosures and resources, supported by robust data and analysis.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced **Senior Sustainability Program Manager** to drive our global ecolabel strategy for Surface and lead sustainability communication for CG&S.
As a Senior Sustainability Program Manager, you will lead the development and execution of our ecolabel strategy for Surface, as well as communicating product sustainability information. You will conduct landscape research, identify opportunities for program improvement, and define success criteria. Your work will advance product sustainability, support Microsoft’s sustainability goals, and promote transparency through evidence-based communications.

Responsibilities
+ Lead ecolabel strategy and program: analyze the landscape, define and evangelize program strategy and roadmap, create project plans, and drive cross functional execution.
+ Serve as the subject matter expert on ecolabels—including technical aspects of ecolabel criteria and verification requirements, criteria development, end-to-end implementation across the Devices business, overall strategy, and communication.
+ Partner with internal subject matter experts and functional owners (e.g., product engineering, compliance, marketing, legal) to align on ecolabel requirements and long term strategy across the Surface portfolio.
+ Deliver ecolabels (e.g., EPEAT, TCO Certified) for Surface in collaboration with internal partners; define and track success criteria and performance metrics.
+ Maintain deep knowledge of the product portfolio and its alignment to current and future ecolabel requirements; anticipate the evolution of criteria and drive alignment of business stakeholders to the strategy.
+ Define and execute ecolabel and sustainability communication plan; lead the rhythm of business; promote programs and secure stakeholder and customer buy-in; ensure customer-facing claims about product sustainability attributes, efforts, and ecolabels/certifications are accurate and trustworthy.
+ Conduct cost/benefit and risk analyses; report status and risks; manage dependencies, budgets, and schedules while driving process improvements and change adoption.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
+ OR equivalent experience
+ 2+ years of expertise in product sustainability and multicriteria ecolabels for consumer electronics.
+ 2+ years of experience managing projects involving multiple stakeholders.
**Preferred Qualifications** :
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or related field AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
+ OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or related field AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ Demonstrated success managing complex programs and leading strategy decisions while balancing the needs of diverse stakeholders.
+ Experience working in a matrixed, global organization.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Surface products and product development.
+ Knowledge of product environmental regulations, standards, and trends.
+ Familiarity with EPEAT and TCO Certified criteria for electronic devices or other ICT sector ecolabels and environmental certifications.
+ Knowledge of consumer electronics product development.
+ Experience working in the sustainability field, preferably in the consumer electronics/ICT sector.
Customer Experience Program Mgmt IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
