As an Intern in Field Service at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc., you will join our Instrument and Enterprise Services Division, which consists of around 3,000 colleagues. Within our renowned Unity Lab Services brand, our Field Service team delivers tailored service solutions and top-tier professionals to effectively meet customer requirements. The 2025 Field Service Engineer (FSE) Summer Intern role is a key component of our "Early Talent Strategy," dedicated to nurturing a pool of engineering talent for Field Services.

    As a Summer Intern FSE, you will acquire valuable perspectives and practical know-how by observing and learning from seasoned FSEs. Post college graduation, you have the opportunity to apply for an available, full-time Field Service Engineer position to kick off your exciting career in Field Service Engineering!

    Responsibilities

    + Acquire insights and knowledge through observing and learning from seasoned FSEs.

    + Undertake a particular project associated with the Field Service Engineering sector.

    + Showcase your project findings and share your FSE Summer Intern experiences with our Divisional Leadership Team.

    + Engage in a one-day volunteer project within your local community.

    Education

    Undergraduate student completing an Engineering or Life Sciences-related degree between December 2026 and June 2027

    + Graduating students can apply for the Summer Intern position if they plan to continue their education in the upcoming semester to pursue the next level degree.

    Requirements

    + Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 weeks starting on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and ending on or around Wednesday, August 20, 2026.

    + Client-focused, in-person role demanding daily commutes to attend Field Service Engineer customer sites within the specified region.

    + Valid Driver’s License required.

    + Should be presently registered in an accredited college or university working towards a bachelor's degree or possessing equivalent engineering experience.

    + Applicants should possess a satisfactory academic record and maintain good standing at their respective college or university.

    + Legally permitted to work in the United States without needing sponsorship for employment visa status.

    + Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

    + Self-starter with a powerful desire to learn and a passion for delivering an outstanding customer experience.

    + Knowledge and experience with computer technology including Microsoft Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

    What You Will Do

    + Collaborate with Field Service Engineer mentors at customer sites.

    + Finish a designated project prior to the conclusion of the Summer Intern Program.

    + Portray the Company in a favorable and polished way during any engagements with Thermo Fisher Scientific staff, clients, and delegates.

    + Guarantee utmost customer satisfaction with Thermo Fisher Scientific products and services.

     

    To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship (current or future) for employment visa status. Thermo Fisher does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, H-1, OPT, and CPT Visas for the purpose of acquiring practical experience.

     

    Compensation and Benefits

     

    The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $14.75–$28.75.

     

    This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
