    Advanced EHS Engineer

     

    This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a Thermo Fisher Scientific career.

    As an Advanced EHS Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with a diverse set of people from around the world. Here, we will make an impact by:

     

    + Actively supporting EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment, promoting a culture to address incidents, near-misses, and potential hazards!

    + Applying scientific, engineering principles and behavioral based systems to drive EHS risk reduction efforts and compliance activities.

    + Investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes in order to reduce risk.

    + Completing internal and external EHS compliance reports and analyze EHS data and report trends. Providing mentorship on plans for correcting gaps and offering EHS recommendations to address change (e.g., plant Management of Change process)

    + Assisting/implementing on-going industrial hygiene chemical and noise assessments and monitoring plans; implementing ergonomic programs to reduce risk of cumulative trauma and other ergonomic injuries at the plant.

    + Interactions/Communications: Providing EHS knowledge and services on existing and new programs; communicating project or program status and results to management.

     

    Your Skills and Expertise

    To set you up for success in this role from day one, we at Thermo Fisher Scientific requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

    + Two (2) years of combined EHS experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

    Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

    + Master’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or environmental health and safety (EHS) degree from an accredited institution

    + Experience in implementation of comprehensive EHS management systems

    + Experience with hazard and risk assessments and experience in a manufacturing environment

    + Experience with ergonomics assessments of physical capabilities, needs, and limitations such as ErgoPrime or ErgoJAR in a manufacturing setting

    + Familiarity with state and federal laws including (e.g, OSHA, EPA, etc.)

    Compensation and Benefits

     

    The salary range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $60,000.00–$90,000.00.
