    SPC Maintenance Support Manager – SPC Generation Support

     

    The Energy Center - Birmingham, AL

     

    Alternative Location: Plant Franklin Training Center or Plant Harris

     

    This position will be responsible for developing and supporting the strategy and tools for all maintenance activities across each Southern Power Company generating facility (wind, solar, gas, energy storage). This work includes preventative and predictive maintenance plans, replacement/repair plans for major components, routine and outage planning and scheduling, fleet-wide agreement support, and sharing best practices/lessons learned across the entire SPC fleet. This person needs to utilize critical thinking and analytical skills to advocate and influence decision making on maintenance strategy. They need to foster an environment of exceptional collaboration across a variety of stakeholder groups. This person will be responsible for the MAXIMO team that helps design and develop solutions that meet customer/stakeholder needs. This role will be responsible for removing obstacles and providing guidance to team members to develop individuals and continuously improve work products.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and 4+ years of significant plant operations or maintenance experience; or 7+ years applicable experience and demonstrated success and knowledge of plant operations, maintenance and scheduling

     

    Extensive skills in Maximo functions and operations are required

     

    Preferred experience in SRCM (Streamlined Reliability Centered Maintenance), MBO (Maintenance Based Optimization), and Predictive and Preventative Maintenance Strategies

     

    Preferred experience of 2+ years utilizing Microsoft Project, Primavera, or comparable scheduling tools

     

    PC/Web proficiency including advanced Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Word skills

     

    Able to interface and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization to drive consistency and best practices

     

    Demonstrated verbal and written communication

     

    Strong technical and maintenance knowledge of gas/steam/wind turbines, gear boxes, generators, solar systems, inverters, or electrical systems

     

    Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously and effectively in a cross-functional and matrix team environment

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Provide leadership, guidance, and development to direct reports

     

    Provide maintenance strategy direction that reduces risk, maximizes reliability, optimizes cost, and increases safety and human performance

     

    Provide direction concerning work management and planning to increase work execution efficiencies, enhance user experiences, and improve data quality

     

    Manage fleet-wide contracts and support individual facility agreements as needed including LTSA, LTP, MSA, and other maintenance agreements

     

    Oversee strategy, guidance, best-practices, training, and support through direct reports for maintenance tools and reporting including but not limited to: Maximo [AC1] (including future upgrades and enhancements leveraging AI and Machine Learning), Maximo Mobile , planning and scheduling tools, PowerBI, and Tableau

     

    Lead the MAXIMO Working Group for the business side of Southern Power working closely with our Technology Organization and keeping open lines of communication between other MAXIMO users across Southern Company and other utilities

     

    Actively support and engage with the Operation Review Boards for all generation types and drive consistency and best practices for data management, reporting, work management, outage planning/execution, and maintenance strategy

     

    Collaborating with all teams across Southern Power that are impacted by setting up existing or future systems for improved data capture, quality, and reporting

     

    Presenting, reporting and tracking metrics in maintenance activities including: the monthly SPO report, PM compliance, service requests, SRCM2.0, SOEs, CT starts and service hours, asset development, 3rd party tracking of failures and replacements, rotating asset strategies, inventory strategies, etc [AC2] .

     

    Innovate with emerging technology (i.e. AI, machine learning) to improve the maintenance strategy and reporting tools to increase safety and human performance, reduce costs, improve reliability, and provide the generation fleet (our customers) the best experience tailored to their requirements and needs

     

    Look for opportunities to connect big data including maintenance, performance, operations, and commercial sources to improve our customer’s experience, data quality, and overall efficiencies

     

    Support communication, training, consistency, and coordination of the fleet outage schedule, activities, planning, outage scorecard metrics, and contractor feedback [AC3] across Southern Power and Southern Company

     

    Serve as a liaison for Southern Power to similar teams and roles in Southern Company and/or contractors for fleet wide initiatives, best practices, and consistency for all maintenance activities, planning, scheduling, and outage-related work
