Job Summary
TheCenter for the Study of Complex Systems (CSCS) (https://lsa.umich.edu/cscs) is a multi- and interdisciplinary program designed to encourage and facilitate research and education in the general area of nonlinear, dynamical, and adaptive systems. In addition to its research projects led by over 50 faculty members representing nearly every college of the University, CSCS offers undergraduate and graduate courses and academic programs and hosts numerous events throughout the year.

This position is a multi-faceted role, with duties in both the creative and the administrative realms. As a smaller unit with a broad reach, the successful candidate will be a skilled and enthusiastic professional with a breadth of interests and experiences.

Responsibilities*
CSCS seeks a candidate to partner with leadership in the following areas:
1) Administrative Support (50%)
+ Support unit faculty administrative processes:
+ Coordinate faculty recruiting, hiring, award and professorship nominations, leaves, annual and promotion reviews, modified duties, sabbaticals, and postponements
+ Manage communication and dissemination of faculty hiring and life cycle information (including deadlines) within the administrative team, as well as to the unit at large
+ Support faculty meetings: confirm meeting agenda and take meeting minutes; follow up on discussions and/or directives from those meetings to see that appropriate actions are initiated
+ Maintain department faculty directories and contact information
+ Manage PCard and track CSCS supply, recruiting, and general event expenses, working within and relevant budgets, and communicating regularly with the Chief Administrator
+ Manage CSCS resources:
+ Order unit supplies for various events and day-to-day unit needs
+ Coordinate unit spaces (offices, conference, and class/lab rooms) for internal and external use
+ Hire, schedule, and supervise student workers as needed
2) Program Coordination & Outreach (30%)
+ Provide logistical and operational support for academic and programmatic initiatives, including seminars, workshops, symposia, faculty visits, guest lectures, and other unit-sponsored activities
+ Coordinate travel, lodging, itineraries, hosted meals, and reimbursements for visiting scholars and external contributors
+ Manage scheduling and reservation of rooms, facilities, equipment, and other resources to support unit-related activities
+ Serve as a liaison with the LSA Finance Business Office to process honoraria and visitor reimbursements
+ Support the development and distribution of informational, promotional, and program-related materials for internal and external audiences
+ Creation of written and visual content such as course flyers, program brochures, and digital signage
+ Maintain and regularly update website content to reflect current programs, initiatives, and opportunities
+ Manage electronic mailing lists and communication channels for students, faculty, and other stakeholders
+ Collaborate with unit leadership on the preparation of materials for institutional initiatives, advancement efforts, and donor engagement
+ Coordinate with University News Service and external partners as needed to promote the unit's programs, achievements, and strategic priorities
3) Unit and LSA community-building activities and professional development (10%)
+ Develop professional networks and join LSA / University meetings, events, and groups to build collaborative relationships with other units
+ Engage in LSA professional development and liaison activities (Sustainability, inclusive culture, MHealthy, PlanetBlue)
4) General Unit Support (10%)
+ Act as back-up for and collaborate with other unit staff (primarily in student services)
+ Assess and communicate organization needs, working with leadership to develop plans to meet the goals of the Unit

The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, written communication, and collaborative skills. Technological proficiency is a must and applicants should be skilled in working with the Microsoft Suite, Google applications, and Adobe Acrobat, especially Adobe Creative Suite or other creative software.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree; 3-5 years of experience in a higher education setting
Desired Qualifications*
Knowledge of the University of Michigan information systems

Additional Information
The full-time salary range for this position is $46,200 - $57,800. Please note that a higher salary may be offered for well-qualified applicants.
