    Description

    **Tradesmen International** is immediately hiring experienced **Marine** **Outside** **Machinists** for projects located in the **Newport News, VA area** . This is a first shift opportunity, and the pay rate is **$37.31/hour** based on experience plus **$140/day worked per diem** for Travelers 60+ miles from the job site.     Job Scope:

    + Install, align, and test main propulsion plant machinery and supporting systems

    + Perform overhaul, maintenance, and installation of valves, pumps, turbines, and heat exchangers

    + Conduct lube oil flushing, hydrostatic testing, and system grooming per cleanliness standards

    + Interpret and work from complex technical drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and sketches

    + Install mechanical systems such as anchor windlasses, aircraft elevators, weapons elevators, and hydraulic components

    + Use precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators) to achieve proper alignment and fit

    + Operate machine tools and portable equipment (e.g., lathes, boring bars, milling machines) to modify or fabricate parts as needed

    + Perform boiler operations, tube replacements, and steam system testing

    + Support installation of air conditioning, refrigeration, and distilling plant systems

    + Comply with OSHA and shipyard safety regulations and best practices

    + Ensure cleanliness and integrity of all systems throughout installation and commissioning phases

    Requirements

    + Must have a least 4 years commercial/naval experience as a First Class Machinist

    + Must be able to get DOD (Department of Defense) clearance
