JOB SUMMARY
Marriott has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager / Scrum Master on the HR Engineering and Labor Management team. This role is part of the team focused on building out our next generation cloud based data and analytics platform. Appropriate candidates have a passion for data and emerging technologies with a take charge attitude and a strong drive for success.
In this role you will deliver data projects and products on time, within budget, while meeting Marriott’s expectations. You will Plan, assign, direct and coordinate activities pertaining to data technology projects, on an enterprise level or for a major systems implementation program with multiple releases and work streams. You will verify project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives. You will be responsible for managing the team that develops and carries out internal information technology projects and products.
Required:.
+ 7+ years’ experience in information technology project management across diverse application areas and technologies.
+ 5+ years’ experience implementing enterprise data capabilities and products
+ 4+ years Scrum and Kanban
+ Prior responsibility for annual project budgets of $2M+ Experience tracking and forecast project budgets
+ Demonstrated record of managing internal and external projects from inception to successful implementation.
+ Ability to speak in front of large audiences and facilitate large, multi-day ceremonies
+ Atlassian (JIRA/Confluence) experience
+ Undergraduate degree, equivalent experience, or certification
Preferred:
+ Graduate degree.
+ Project Management Certification, Certified ScrumMaster, Certified Product Owner, or Certified Scrum Professional with active experience in serving in this capacity
+ Experience working in highly-complex and fast-paced environments
+ Agile Coaching Experience
+ Solid understanding of current technologies with the ability to develop and deliver projects using leading edge technologies.
+ Ability to align change management strategies with project.
+ Skilled in conceptualizing creative solutions, documenting them, and presenting/selling them to senior management.
+ Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
+ Extremely high level of analytical ability to resolve complex and difficult issues.
+ Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output in a team environment.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Leading Organizational Delivery
• Supports one or more software delivery team using Scrum or Kanban methodologies
• Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Refinement, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective
• Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines
• Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization
• Works with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role
• Acts as servant leader of the Agile Team and directs the initiative delivery team
• Partner with Product Managers to maintain plans and communicate progress of the team. This includes product roadmaps, scrum team metrics, and program/project status reporting
• Proactively identifies impediments and resolves using network of peers or escalation if needed
• Supports Release Train Engineer, Product and Tech teams to manage & remove dependencies and optimize the flow
Coaching Teams
• Guides and coaches the Scrum Team on how to use Lean and Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers
• Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization
• Works with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests
• Optimizes team performance by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques
• Develops understanding and encourages team in engineering practices, DevOps and innovation
• Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams
• Support the development of behavioral change management, communications and training as needed to drive process and tool adoption, implementation, and compliance
• Collaborate with key stakeholder groups to validate the effectiveness of standard processes and continuously improves process quality.
• Work with Marriott teams to ensure that process-related activities address company needs
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
• Highly motivated person that is passionate about collaborating with others to drive results and can motivate others to do the same to improve the organization
• Possesses a team-first mentality, has a good sense of humor, is open-minded and proactive
• Sound technical experience with infrastructure that can understand and translate business requests into consumable stories and vice versa
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a high attention to detail and impeccable time management skills
• Ability to self-manage, recognize and actively address challenges, mediate issues, develop solutions, and implement appropriate courses of action
• Highly proficient with MS Office, Jira and Confluence (or equivalent tools)
• Ability to expertly read, write and speak in the English language.
The pay range for this position is $47.30 to $77.45 per hour.
**Washington Applicants Only:** Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
