Description:

Loyola Medicine, treating the whole person with compassion—to "also treat the human spirit." The Radiology Department at Gottlieb Hospital seeks an Interventional Radiology Tech to provide special procedure exams utilizing ionizing radiation.

Under the direction of a radiologist, the Interventional Radiology Technologist performs special procedures at a technical level, providing optimal imaging for physician interpretation. This role supports interventional procedures using ionizing radiation and provides technical assistance to patients, physicians, and nursing staff in the Radiology Department.

What You Will Do

+ Prepare imaging suite equipment, procedural trays, and supplies to ensure a safe and optimal patient experience.

+ Demonstrate competence in operating and troubleshooting imaging equipment.

+ Maintain procedure room cleanliness, restock supplies, and ensure quick room turnover.

+ Assist physicians with the preparation and administration of contrast media, following department guidelines.

+ Correctly label all drawn contrast and medications.

+ Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care based on age-specific needs to minimize radiation exposure.

+ Verify patient identity using two identifiers prior to procedures.

+ Assist patients with transfers to and from exam tables, wheelchairs, carts, or beds.

+ Apply proper technique, protocol, and immobilization appropriate to the patient’s age.

+ Follow all precautionary guidelines (sterile, aseptic, universal) to promote patient safety.

+ Maintain current licensure and professional registration through continuing education.

+ Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly.

+ Verify patient information and demographics in the scanner via modality worklist.

+ Confirm physician orders in EPIC and RIS before performing procedures.

+ Ensure all exam images are uploaded to PACS.

+ Track patient procedures in RIS and verify correct information.

+ Follow downtime procedures and complete necessary paperwork when systems resume.

What you will need:

Education & Experience:

+ **Required:**

+ Associate’s Degree or equivalent training through work experience or education

+ 1–2 years of related experience

+ **Preferred:**

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology

+ 3–5 years of related experience

Licensure/Certifications:

+ **Required:**

+ American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

+ CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

+ Illinois Emergency Management Agency Certification (IEMA)

+ **Preferred:**

+ Certified Vascular Interventional Radiography (ARRT)

Computer Skills:

+ Basic keyboarding skills

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word

Compensation:

Salary Range: $30.99 - $50.71per hour

_Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles._
