Job Title: Packaging Operator
Job Description
The Packaging Operator is responsible for completing assigned production duties to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. This role involves performing all required operating procedures, running, and troubleshooting production equipment. The Packaging Operator supports the manufacture of extended shelf life (ESL) dairy-related products.
Responsibilities
+ Achieve assigned goals in production, safety, quality, performance, and cost.
+ Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and clean all assigned equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
+ Clear any jam-ups and restore production line operation.
+ Set up, operate, and clean equipment such as bailer, trash compactor, and foamer, while completing all required documentation.
+ Perform product quality control checks on an ongoing basis.
+ Notify others of mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities.
+ Comply with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations.
+ Aid and support all areas in the production facility as assigned and begin to train and build competence on key areas in production such as fillers, forklifts, and production lines.
+ Gain competence online circuits and learn proper hookups are made in the facility.
+ Cover breaks, lunches, and other staffing needs as assigned.
+ Comply with all legal requirements concerning dairy processing and safety.
+ Work in a safe manner, report safety concerns promptly, and take corrective actions as necessary.
+ Report food safety problems, initiate action, and support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality.
+ Ensure work areas are sanitary and strictly adhere to sanitation practices.
+ Communicate effectively between shifts and other departments.
Essential Skills
+ Ability to apply basic to complex mathematical concepts.
+ Understand and respond appropriately to employee, vendor, and customer inquiries.
+ Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
+ Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals, and role in achieving them.
+ Ability to operate facility equipment as required in assigned area.
+ Complete all company training requirements.
+ Ability to interpret company documents and literature and UPC/code information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in packaging, production, and general production.
+ Familiarity with GMP and assembly line processes.

Work Environment
The work environment is normally protected from weather, though temperature changes are possible with exposure to hot, cold, wet, and humid conditions. You may be subject to exposure to ingredients used in food production, including allergens, and chemicals involved in manufacturing and sanitation.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Syracuse, New York.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.75 - $20.75/hr.
