Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems within a commercial or industrial setting. This position also involves operating machine tools and assembling parts to fabricate tools, mechanisms, and machines for both experimental and production purposes.

Responsibilities

+ Inspect and test machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning.

+ Diagnose malfunctions by listening for unusual sounds and consulting with supervisors or other maintenance staff.

+ Dismantle defective machines and equipment; install new or repaired parts.

+ Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery components.

+ Install and repair electrical apparatus, including transformers, wiring, and electronic components.

+ Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

+ Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

+ Install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment.

+ Troubleshoot, repair, install, and program Omron PLCs.

+ Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.

+ Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

+ Consult with engineers and other personnel regarding equipment design, capacity, and purpose.

+ Analyze specifications, drawings, sketches, and instructions to plan layout and sequence of operations.

+ Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts for special engineering needs.

+ Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.

+ Install parts and materials such as sheet metal, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants, and batteries.

+ Recommend changes for efficiency and adaptability through Kaizen activities.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to operate milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders accurately.

+ Understanding of tolerances and precision measurements.

+ Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure correct part dimensions.

+ Knowledge of maintaining and troubleshooting machining tools to minimize downtime.

+ Ability to perform minor welding tasks when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Certificate from a trade school or alternative certification in electrical, mechanical, or welding applications.

+ Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

+ Basic algebra skills.

+ Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

+ Familiarity with CNC machines for setup, operation, and minor programming adjustments.

Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and high-volume, with frequent machine operation and inspection tasks. The company promotes teamwork and open dialogue, aiming to create a sense of ownership and camaraderie among employees. Employees regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate. Lifting up to 100 pounds is regularly required, with frequent lifting of more than 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The workplace involves regular exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes/airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration, with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Hearing protection is required due to noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The work schedule often includes long hours and mandatory overtime, typically 5–6 days a week with 10–12 hour shifts.

This is a Permanent position based out of Tell City, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55848.00 - $60320.00/yr.
