Maintenance Mechanic
Overview
This position is responsible for setting up molds and cycling them into specifications, maintaining operations safely and efficiently, and ensuring acceptable quality and production requirements. The ideal candidate has electrical and mechanical maintenance experience. The typical schedule will be 6:55 AM - 3:30PM. Responsibilities
+ Set up, operate, and cycle molds to specification.
+ Work with various materials, mixing processes, and automatic color blending.
+ Identify material-specific cycle requirements, defects, and dimensional issues.
+ Understand and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical machine systems.
+ Perform machine adjustments, startups, and shutdowns.
+ Train and support fellow technicians.
+ Maintain clean and organized work areas.
+ Collaborate across job roles and complete assigned tasks.
+ Follow GMP and GDP standards.
+ Monitor line operations for safety, quality, and productivity.
+ Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic knowledge in equipment maintenance and repair.
Essential Skills
+ Ability to read electrical schematics and identify symbols and control circuits.
+ Competency in troubleshooting electrical circuits.
+ Experience working on the installation of systems, changing motors, and installing relays and starters.
+ Ability to read hydraulic schematics and troubleshoot hydraulic circuits.
+ Competency in performing maintenance on plant equipment with skill in refrigeration, drying, conveying, fluid pumps, blowing and vacuum pumps, pneumatic circuits, and welding/fabrication.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or 5+ years’ experience in a maintenance role.
+ Post-secondary education preferred (technical or vocational).
+ Basic math, computer, and organizational skills.
+ Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
+ Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
+ Demonstrated maintenance and troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as systems using electric motors and sensors for operational functions.
Work Environment
The work environment is a 90,000 sq feet facility with 15 extrusion lines and 2 labeling lines, focused on plastic extrusion for various foods and consumer products. The main product line includes shampoo, lotion, and cleaning solution bottles of various sizes and colors. The machinery used is predominantly extrusion and mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic driven.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
