    Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description

     

    The Lab Technician will play a crucial role in sample logging, testing, condition monitoring, and maintaining lab operations alongside the R&D team. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with the QC team on sample analysis and production floor checks. Responsibilities include performing lab testing, adhering to workmanship standards, supporting blending and packaging functions of high-performance petroleum products, and performing day-to-day monitoring and testing. This role requires utilizing instrumental analysis to ensure reliability and conformance to specifications.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct condition monitoring and assist in running lab tests.

    + Support the quality department as needed.

    + Perform pipetting, titrations, fuel dilution, labeling, barcoding, and uphold lab quality standards.

    + Conduct lab tests throughout the product life cycle, including FTIR, Viscosity, Density, Pour-point, Cold Crank, XRF, and ICP.

    + Calibrate, validate, and troubleshoot instruments.

    + Handle sample receiving, in-process testing, results generation, and lab upkeep.

    + Prepare results using the LIMS system and generate required test reports.

    + Maintain lab quality standards, documentation, and records.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in titration and wet chemistry.

    + Experience in QA/QC and laboratory operations.

    + Skilled in pipetting and viscosity testing.

    + Familiarity with ICP and R&D processes.

    + Strong foundation in chemistry.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field.

    + 0-6+ months of laboratory experience in industry or academics.

    + Experience with ICP or ICP-MS is a plus.

    + Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate instruments.

    + Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

    + Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    + Strong multi-tasking abilities.

    Work Environment

    This position is based at the company's headquarters in Golden Valley, offering a positive and supportive company culture. The lab is equipped with advanced technologies, including LIMS and automated manufacturing lines, housed in a high-end lab space. The company provides inviting employee spaces with a lounge, entertainment area, and a full kitchen in the break room. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, with flexible start times available. The role is part of a 4-person lab group focused on Product Development, with a total of 12 technicians and chemists in the lab. The environment is outgoing and collaborative, with 90% of work conducted in the lab and 5-10% dedicated to data logging and team meetings.

    This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
