Job Title: Building Automation Engineer
Job Description
As a Building Automation Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of integrated control systems for complex building environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver smart, energy-efficient, and scalable automation solutions for life sciences, biotech, and advanced manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities
+ Develop control system architecture and detailed design documents, including HVAC, lighting, energy management, and environmental monitoring systems.
+ Specify and configure DDC controllers, instrumentation, and network infrastructure.
+ Create control logic framework, sequences of operation, and integration strategies for third-party systems such as fire alarm, security, and BMS.
+ Conduct site surveys and assessments to provide formal recommendations of controls solutions and strategies.
+ Perform site acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
+ Interface with clients to gather requirements, present technical solutions, and provide training and support.
+ Collaborate with architects, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers to provide a seamless control strategy.
+ Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal standards and best practices.
+ Prepare and maintain accurate documentation including specifications, control narratives, wiring diagrams, and commissioning reports.
+ Ensure systems comply with relevant codes, standards, and sustainability goals.
Essential Skills
+ Knowledge of Mechanical Systems
+ Understanding of industry standards for communication protocols, specifically BACnet and Modbus
+ Familiarity with GMP facilities requirements
+ Understanding of life safety equipment, such as gas detection
+ Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Understanding of building codes as they pertain to automation
+ Knowledge of ASHRAE standards
+ Possession of or pursuit towards PE/EIT certification
+ Experience in life sciences, biotech, pharma, and GMP manufacturing
+ Proficiency in various building automation platforms such as Siemens Desigo, Tridium Niagara, and Honeywell EBI
+ Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control theory, and network protocols
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office suite
+ Experience with programming DDC controllers and configuring HMI/graphics interfaces
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
+ 5–8 years of experience in design and implementation, preferably in regulated industries

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.70 - $67.30/hr.
