    Site Inspector – Energy Efficiency Projects

     

    Compensation: $25–$35/hour

    Position Overview

    We are hiring 2–3 Site Inspectors to support energy efficiency initiatives across multifamily buildings in the NYC metro area. This is a hands-on role with approximately 80% of time spent in the field conducting inspections and 20% on reporting and documentation. Inspectors will verify installation quality, enforce safety standards, and ensure compliance with program requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Inspect building systems including HVAC, heating, electrical, plumbing, and insulation with a focus on energy efficiency.

    + Conduct diagnostic testing such as blower door tests and combustion analysis.

    + Prepare detailed energy audit reports and scopes of work for retrofit projects.

    + Submit inspection documentation including photos, videos, and reports in a timely manner.

    + Monitor contractor work for quality, completeness, and adherence to safety standards.

    + Access attics, crawlspaces, and other building areas to verify installations.

    + Apply knowledge of International Mechanical and Building Codes during inspections.

    + Communicate effectively with contractors, property managers, and building personnel.

    + Attend training sessions to maintain certifications and stay current with industry practices.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management & System Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

    + Strong understanding of building systems including HVAC, lighting, electrical, and refrigeration.

    + OSHA 10 certification (minimum).

    + Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

    + Excellent customer service and communication skills.

    + Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).

    Preferred:

    + Experience conducting energy audits or inspections.

    + Familiarity with technologies such as heat pumps.

    + Experience in facilities management, construction, or building operations.

    Work Schedule & Travel

    + Hours: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

    + Travel: Primarily local across NYC metro area. Occasional overnight travel may be needed.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.65/hr.
