Job Title: Mold Process Engineer
Job Description
We are currently seeking a Mold Process Engineer to join our Transportation Industrial Solutions team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to accelerate your career while making a significant impact on mold development and new product capabilities. As a Mold Process Engineer, you will influence mold design, operations, and product design, playing a crucial role in capital spending, lead time results, and division metrics.
Responsibilities
+ Participate in and lead new tooling quote activities.
+ Lead new mold development projects, including concept tool designs, verification through Moldflow simulation, and qualification requirements.
+ Follow up with suppliers for tool qualification and support product review and disposition.
+ Track and report project status, timing, and budget performance, ensuring accountability for performance and execution of the mold development plan.
+ Collaborate with new product teams to advise on robust design for manufacturability.
+ Review Moldflow simulation results to improve tool and part designs, verifying actual parts against predictions.
+ Analyze part data and communicate findings and recommendations for improvements.
+ Establish molding process parameters scientifically to ensure consistent processes.
+ Leverage statistical techniques, such as Design of Experiments (DOE), to develop robust processes.
+ Ensure all documentation for assigned molds during the qualification phase is complete and properly stored.
+ Provide technical support to resolve equipment, process, and tooling issues.
Essential Skills
+ Understanding of injection molding and tooling development.
+ 5-10 years of experience in process and tooling, with at least 2 years in automotive connectors.
+ Knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and techniques associated with scientific molding.
+ Experience with molding machines and ancillary equipment.
+ Experience with CAD and 3D modeling software (NX preferred but not required).
+ Basic understanding of GD&T for reviewing product prints.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ RJG Master Molder I/II or AIM certification.
+ Must be a team player willing to cooperate and consider input from various team members.
+ Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, global environment with changing priorities.
+ Experience working as a lead with remote sites and outside vendors.
+ Proficiency in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and familiarity with Minitab and SAP.
+ Hands-on work experience preferred.
Work Environment
The successful candidate will work within a team of 8 individuals, primarily composed of new graduates. You will assist in process teachbacks and act as a engineer, supporting the team without formal leadership responsibilities. The position offers a collaborative environment focused on principle-based management, encouraging a cooperative atmosphere between upper management and peers. The role includes opportunities for spot bonuses based on problem-solving and process implementation achievements.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $155000.00/yr.
