    Job Title: Systems Design Engineer

    Job Description

    The Systems Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading engineering design projects within the Clean Factory Automation Division. This position involves close collaboration with customers, suppliers, project managers, and stakeholders to develop solutions, design products, and implement systems. The role requires technical expertise in development and design, leadership in managing project budgets and timelines, and the ability to work with engineering teams in Japan and the US to meet internal and external design requirements, such as UL and Semi standards. Additionally, the engineer will assist in developing installation and operating procedures for the products.

    Responsibilities

    + Develop comprehensive mechanical/electrical designs and technical drawings from initial concepts through manufacturing and final assembly.

    + Create, modify, and update drawings based on industry standards, manufacturing feedback, testing results, and customer requirements.

    + Develop the make/buy decision-making process and collaborate with purchasing and vendors.

    + Serve as the primary technical resource for current design systems and consult with internal/external resources for complex design challenges.

    + Maintain accurate and current design documentation and revision control.

    + Create installation and operation documents to support developed products and systems.

    + Schedule and coordinate design review meetings with cross-functional teams to enhance collaboration and resolve technical design issues.

    + Drive project execution from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and financial objectives.

    + Create presentations to keep stakeholders informed of the project status.

    + Complete project closeout documents and conduct detailed project lessons learned reviews.

    + Utilize GD&T principles and complete DFM reviews to create a manufacturing/install process.

    + Travel to vendors and suppliers to support manufacturing and quality progress/issues.

    + Visit customer locations to supervise automation system installations and commissioning.

    + Troubleshoot field issues and provide technical support during system deployment.

    + Provide support to the service team on developing PM processes, service, and spare parts plans.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in SolidWorks; AutoCad experience is a plus.

    + Bachelor's degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or related field.

    + Minimum of three years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer in an industrial/engineering/automation environment.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience with Fusion360 or AutoCad required.

    + Mechanical and industrial background .

    + Experience in upgrading existing plants to include automation in a clean room environment.

    + Ability to engineer new sections of automated systems in existing facilities.

    Work Environment

    The position requires up to 25% travel. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required, along with eligibility to obtain a passport for international travel. The company is Japanese-owned with a significant presence in the US, offering a collaborative environment with opportunities for growth and advancement. The work involves interaction with machine tools, turn-key solutions, AGVs, and automation systems. The company values long-term employment, with many employees retiring after long tenures.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $90000.00/yr.

     

    Company Benefitsbenefits include paid holidays (no waiting period), 3 floating holidays, gym membership reimbursement, ($50) , PTO, 401K match after a year Profit sharing after 1 calendar year, 2 bonuses annually (depends on company’s previous performance and the employee performance review).
